Joel Katz’s Prestige Caterers, New York’s Premier Kosher Caterer,
was incorporated in 1971 as a small kosher caterer located in the Oakland
Jewish Center in Bayside, Queens.
The success of this innovative caterer soon spread to the
off-premise market as clients demanded the quality of Prestige catering
for the world of hotels and country clubs.
As Prestige Caterers grew, it purchased a 30,000 square foot
commissary and office complex to house the large off-premise market that
continues to evolve today.
Joel Katz, the founder of Prestige Caterers, has remained the
moving force behind this growing company and is still the creative genius
behind it. Spencer Katz, the next generation, has worked side by side with
the senior Katz since the late 1980's to make Prestige Caterers what it is
today.
Phil Goldenberg, long-time associate, joined Joel in 1984,
bringing to this company his loyal following from his family business -
Star Caterers.
Michele Lang, Ann Smith, and Alan Kaplan joined the group in the
late 1980's and remain today, each specializing in another segment of the

emergence in the Philadelphia/Cherry Hill market. Overseen by Cherry Hill

enabled it to cater successful programs and events in Chicago, Baltimore,
