10 Trends to Watch Out For

In these unpredictable economic times, it is interesting to watch wedding trends develop.  In the 10 Trends that we have noticed recently, some are clearly still over-the-top, and others have a big impact with relatively modest cost.  You will be able to discern which is which in this list!

1.  Kicking up with color
It is fun to see how the addition of color changes a whole look.  One demonstration of this is the selection of bridesmaids’ shoes.  A bright and complimentary- yet contrasting- color really gives the procession a pop!

2. Color and more color
Even the drinks are taking a center stage.  In this green and white wedding, the signature drink was both created and named to match the color scheme.  And signature drinks are definitely a trend!

3.  Napkins
How they are folded, their color, and where they are placed- make a dramatic tablescape.

4.  A Groom’s cake
Which is a tradition from the South, is adding a personal touch to current weddings.  The cake here was meant to honor the groom’s devotion to the Philadelphia Phillies, and the wedding occurred during the World Series Playoffs…  so it was more than perfect!

5.  Photography has taken a whimsical touch
Although formal portraits are still an important part of the collection of images, some spontaneity and fun are being added.

6.  The wedding cake may not be the only dessert
In fact, we are seeing surprises, as with these mini-ice cream cones.  Whimsical, fun, and deliciously refreshing, these are passed on the dance floor late in the evening.

7.  Ice sculptures are back
And they are appearing in many unconventional forms.  This table has just started to be decorated for the Navy Lieutenant and his new wife!

8.  What is old is new
It’s about the cars…  fancy, distinguished, and luxurious.

9.  The traditional sign-in book now has a lot of competition
Signing a bottle of wine, an art book from a museum, or a book that invites you to doodle, comment, and… smile… is a major trend.

10.  Fancy cakes are back too!
The bride saw this one in a magazine, and the pastry chef re-created it for her.
