As soon as you know your arrival and departure
dates and air carrier, let us know so we can arrange for your transportation
to San Pedro.
Arriving in Belize: To enter the country of
Belize, US citizens are required to have a valid passport that
does not expire within 90 days of arrival and a return airline
ticket. US citizens are allowed to stay for 30 consecutive days.
(Please note: there is a US$0.75 per person Arrival Environmental
tax and a US $21.50 per person Belize Airport Departure tax payable
at your airline counter.)
When you arrive at the Belize International Airport, proceed
through Immigrations, collect your bags and continue through Customs.
The Customs line to the far right has a green sign that states
"No Goods to Declare." Proceed to this line.
Local Transfer to San Pedro: After clearing customs please
continue into the Main Terminal and to the applicable local airline
counter (we will notify you or your travel agent if we have booked
you on Maya Island Air or Tropic Air) to find your tickets waiting
for you under both "El Pescador" and your last name.
You then take a quick, 20-minute flight to San Pedro, Ambergris
Caye where a Representative from El Pescador will meet you at
the San Pedro Airstrip. A taxi will transport you and your luggage
3 blocks to the pier where the EP Representative will escort you
to the lodge or Villas by boat.
NOTE: If you miss your connection, you will automatically be
placed on the next available shuttle. If your International flight
has been very delayed and you are not scheduled to arrive until
after 5:00pm, please call El Pescador at 226-2398 (Internationally
011-501-26-2398) and we will reschedule your flight.
THINGS TO KNOW:
Cellular Phones:
Cell phones will work in Belize if you activate to Belize local
service at the BTL counter in the International Airport. They
will not work if you do not activate to local service.
Tipping:
Tipping is a personal decision based on service. Normally guides
and staff are tipped upon departure in accordance with help rendered.
Ask the Lodge managers for guidelines.
Checklist:
Belize
is a tropical country where the average temperature is 84F degrees
during the day and 75F at night. Dress is informal at the lodge
so bring light comfortable clothing. Consider packing the following:
- light jacket or sweater for cool morning or evening
- light long-sleeved shirt and pants for protection from the
sun
- wide brimmed hat for protection from the sun
- sunscreen and lip screen (start with SPF 15 or higher)
- insect repellent (we recommend OFF spray with the orange cap)
- lightweight rain gear for those tropical showers (a must June
December)
- camera, batteries and film
- small waterproof bag for carrying extra gear
- polarized sunglasses for spotting the fish (amber color)
- reef wades for stalking bonefish on the flats
- fisherman’s pliers, clipper and cleaner
- sufficient supply of personal medications
- pair of binoculars for spotting birds
- hand towel/rag for fishing use
